Measuring your shade sail is a critical part of the project. ShadeSpace recommends you always install your poles/fixing points before measuring up for your Shade Sail. Custom made sails are specifically manufactured to fit your site, and they can be made to almost any shape or size, so to ensure a perfect fit it is critical that all your fixing points are established before measuring your shade sail.

To get a quoted price for a Shade Sail the only measurements required are all the edge (perimeter) measurements. However, once you are ready to place your order, we will additionally require all diagonal measurements and pole heights.

MEASURING TO PLACE AN ORDER:

 What you will need:

  •             Tape Measure
  •             Ladder
  •             Notepad + Pen
  •             2 people

Sketch the shape of the Shade Sail onto your paper, labelling each post/fixing point with a letter in a clockwise direction. E.g. A, B, C, D. (see the example diagram below).Measurement Outline for Shade Sails by Shadespace in AustraliaWith all your fixing points in place, you now need to gather & record all of the following measurements:

-        All perimeter measurements from inside-of-fixing-eye to inside-of-fixing-eye. (Indicated in Green)

-        All diagonal measurements from inside-of-fixing-eye to inside-of-fixing-eye. Ensure you capture ALL diagonal measurements for each fixing point. (Indicated in Blue)

-        Height measurements of each fixing point. Ensure you take the height measurements from a datum line (one set height for each fixing point). See our specific Fixing Height measuring guide here.

Top Tip: Double check all your measurements as you go to ensure you have written them down correctly.

You should now have all measurements noted that are required to order your Custom Shade Sail.

Accurate measurements are one of the most important parts of a successful Shade Sail project. Taking the time to carefully measure between all fixing points and double check your dimensions will help ensure your custom-made sail fits correctly and tensions properly once installed.
