There are a number of ways to reinforce Shade Sails edges to give them strength, stability and a firm tight hemline. We offer two successfully proven user friendly options as explained below:

Continuous Cable Wire Edge

A stainless-steel wire cable runs around the entire sail inside the hemline. It is terminated at one corner only by overlapping itself and being secured with two adjustable wire rope grips. This wire cable length is not pre-set in our factory and can involve some adjusting on site during installation to clamp it off at the perfect position which will then transfer the load correctly between the sail fabric and the wire. While this may take a little extra time to get this right it is a widely used method in the trade that will always produce a professional result.

Installation:

When receiving your continuous cable wire edge sail the wire cable will be already inserted in the hemline and positioned through the corner D- rings. The wire rope grips will be in place but not locked off. Before the sail is fully tensioned lock off the wire then continue to tension the sail and monitor the result. If the sail is tight and the wire is loose release, tighten the wire and repeat. Or if the wire comes tight while the sail is still loose, release and lengthen the wire until you have the perfect balance. A perfectly fitted sail will have the hemline tight and the fabric tight right throughout the entirety of the sail.

Webbing Edge

Our webbing edge sails have a heavy-duty UV resistant webbing sewn into the hemline on all sides. Each webbing length is precisely calculated in the factory. The webbing actually floats inside the hem and is terminated at each corner by being doubled over and securely sewn to the stainless D-rings. This method makes for very fast installation as everything is pre-set. They are exceptionally strong and also fold up nice and flat for storage when not is use.

Installation:

Simply tension out from corner to corner and because the stretch of the webbing and the stretch of the fabric have been independently calculated they will both come taut together when the maximum tension is applied. Very clean and tidy look and great for all, but the largest sails
